Builders Insurance Holdings S.A. (BIH) is a fast-evolving group of insurance and reinsurance companies based in Luxembourg. BIH belongs to an international construction group and has specialised in North American casualty & surety business for 18 years.
We are currently looking for a
Chief Operations Officer and Member of the Executive of Builders Group (m/f)
The role
You will be responsible for business efficiency and secure the optimisation of business processes to drive sustainable growth. The COO role is a key member of the senior management team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
- Leading a strong team of professionals with a broad span of expertise (Legal & Compliance, Governance, Internal Controls, IT, HR, Organisation, General Administration)
- Acting as an integrator between different activities across the business
- Development of strategic actions, projects and procedures in collaboration with the Executive team to address and drive strategy to execution
- Establishing policies that promote company culture and vision
- Building employee alignment with company goals and acting as a change agent to lead new initiatives, such as organizational changes
- Overseeing human resource sourcing and development
- Providing support to the various committees such as the Board of Directors and specialised committees (agenda, minutes drafting etc)
- Ensure preparedness for changes in the regulatory environment and compliance with laws and regulations
- Coordinating with HOCHTIEF departments, Board of Directors, internal auditors and lawyers
- Ensuring compliance with the internal control framework and the regulatory/audit requirements
- Optimisation of current business processes to demonstrate strong internal controls
- Direction and coordination of cross-functional teams to support reporting initiatives
- Providing assistance to the Licenced Director (“Dirigeant Agréé”) when communicating with the Luxembourg Insurance Commission (CAA)
Your skills and experience
- Proven experience as a Chief Operating Officer or equivalent role in a regulated environment
- Understanding of business functions such as legal, compliance, Internal Controls, Project Management, HR, IT etc.
- Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
- Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
- Be willing to “roll up your sleeves” with a “hands-on” approach
- Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
- Good track record of producing qualitative reporting to internal and external stakeholders
- Experience of and ability in setting and achieving targets and producing work of high quality to tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills - ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and concise fashion
- Team player with good communication skills, as well as engaging and motivating
- Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and MS Office
- Excellent command of both English and French, German would also be a definite “plus”
